IDEA & CONCEPT
This project aims to address the lack of comfort, personalization and modularity in Motorcycle armor. Aeg-x is 3D-printed armor, to be worn on-top of the motorcycle gear. The product is build from a custom, Sierpinski inspired structure , which introduces lightweight, flexible, impact absorbing qualities. The armor uses a Velcro attachment system, for easy removal and attachment.
This project followed a non-linear Double diamond design process with integrated design sprints.
To create the design, Expert interviews, Co-creation workshops and various structural property tests were utilized, one of which was a Dynamic impact absorption test at Rev’it (Dutch motorcycle-gear company). This test is actually used for CE certification of armor, where the Armor scored a CE Level 1 level of impact absorption.
Aeg-x has a Sierpinski inspired Logo and Bold colour, developed to enhance market appeal.
